Misc. Personal Projects

When I'm not busy doing more important things, I tinker. Enjoy a selection of my tinkerings here.

License plate adapter

I didn't like the ugly plastic number plate adapter with exposed borders, so I made a custom one with a bit of waterjet cutting, milling, and riveting.

Cheap CNC Machine & PCB milling

I decided there wasn't much to go wrong with getting a cheap sub-$200 CNC router from Ebay, and indeed it was a lot of fun to set up and play around with (albeit quite useless at anything practical)

J-Pole VHF Amateur Radio Antenna

I took some well-defined J Pole antenna geometry and made a custom design with aluminium tubes and plates. The antenna is able to reliably pick up my local airport's ATIS and some comms, and on clear days is able to pick up broadcasts from my local repeater 50km away

Forged carbon keycap

I lost a keycap on my keyboard, and as trashy as 'forged' carbon is as an engineering material (fight me), it does look pretty cool

Vacuum formed shell for rover

We had to make a little maze-navigating robot for a first-year introductory engineering course. I decided to vacuum-form a cute little shell to go along with it

Some gifts for friends
